Project Alert on Violence Against
Women with support from Mrs. Oby Ezekweshili, former Federal Minister provided
financial assistance to an indigent family in Ikorodu. Our attention was drawn
to the Abiade's family by a concerned citizen who reported that the 6 year old
daughter of the family, was being battered regularly by biological mother. Upon
investigation, it was discovered that the mother was facing severe financial
challenges which made her to be intolerant and violent to her 6year old child.
Based on the report received, Mrs Oby Ezekweshili, who is very passionate about
issues bordering on violence against women and young girls, decided to support
the family with some money to help boost the family income and empower the
woman, so that financial handicap would not be a reason for her abusing her
child physically.
