Court remands man, 27, for alleged rape

Two men, Segun Olagbebi, 37, and Tokunbo Olukoya, 38, were on Thursday arraigned in Lagos, over the alleged rape of two daughters of their neighbours.

The victims were aged 11 and 13 years, respectively.

Segun and Tokunbo are standing trial at an Abule-Egba Magistrate  Court in Lagos, on a four-count charge of rape.

The accused, who reside at No. 85, Akinpelumi Close, Oko-Paki, Kola Bus stop, Agbado-Ijaiye, are both carpenters.The prosecutor, Insp. Racheal Williams, told the court that the offences was committed on July 12 and August  4, respectively, at their residence.

According to the prosecution, on July 12, the accused raped an 11-year-old daughter of one of their neighbours in the room of the first accused.

“Also, on August  4, the first accused, Segun raped the 13-year-old daughter of the second accused in his (Olukoya’s) room.

“It was the screaming of the girl that attracted the neighbours and the first accused (Olagbebi) was arrested. It was at the police station that Segun told the police that both himself and Olukoya had previously raped an 11-year-old daughter of one of their neighbours,” she said.

The case was adjourned till October  15, for mention.
