Court Remands Man, 25, For Alleged Rape Of Minor

An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday remanded a 25-year-old, unemployed man, Damilare Adegoke, for alleged rape of 12-year-old girl.

Prosecutor Joshua Oladoye told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 1 at Najas Compound, Isale-Osun in Osogbo.

Oladoye said the accused, who lives in the same compound with the victim, lured the minor into his room and had carnal knowledge of her without her consent.

He said the offence contravened Section 31(1) of the Child’s Right Law of Osun 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Olusola Aluko, ordered that the accused to be remanded in prison custody.
Aluko also directed that the counsel to the accused, Miss Bose Dada, to file a formal bail application for her client.

He adjourned the case to April 29, for mention. (NAN)
