Police smash robbery, rape gang in Akure

The Police in Ondo State have arrested a gang of armed robbers, who robbed one Charles Julius and raped his wife in Akure on March 9  2014.

According to the police, the armed robbers broke into Julius’ house through the wall while he was at home with his family and demanded for money at gunpoint.

The robbers were said to have carted away the sum of N135,000 and other valuable items and raped the man’s wife in his presence.

Police Commissioner, Ondo State, Isaac Eke, said, “Upon this information, operatives immediately swung into action and the suspects were arrested.

“They include, Falade Ayomide, Matthew Adeyemi, Ahmed Adeyeye and Kayode Adewale, alias Ologbo.”

Eke said on interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and would soon be arraigned in court.
He also said men of his command rescued a kidnapped student of Leeds City University, Ibadan, Adekunle Olanrewaju, after intercepting the kidnappers along Ajagba/Agadagba Road in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

“One Gasiakpo Niakpo, a 28-year student of Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State was apprehended on the spot, while his accomplices, Henry, Messiah and Edward Onwei escaped,” Eke said.
He noted that victim was undergoing his teaching practice at the Methodist High School, Expressway, Ibadan where he was kidnapped.
