An Apapa Magistrates’ Court in
Lagos on Tuesday sentenced Olalekan Olanlokun, 33, to five years
imprisonment with hard labour for raping a 10-year-old girl.
Olanlokun, who lives at Ojo area of Lagos, was arraigned on a two-count charge of defilement and breach of peace.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, convicted Olanlokun after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
“Based on the facts before this court, I hereby sentence you to five years imprisonment with hard labour and with no option of fine,” Adelaja said.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, SP Soji Ojaokomo, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 30, 2013, at the Ojo area of Lagos.
He told the court that on the fateful day, Olanlokun forcefully had carnal knowledge of the complainant, who was left under his care.
The prosecutor said that the accused threatened to kill her if she told her parents about the incident, adding that the offences contravened sections 137 and 166 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
