Man, 35, Held In Prison Over Alleged Rape

An Osogbo Magistrate’s Court on Monday ordered Faheem Onalore, 35, to be remanded in Ilesa Prison for allegedly committing rape.

The Magistrate, Mrs Halima Bashiru, said the order was due to the gravity of the offence.

The prosecutor, Mireti Wilson, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 14, at about 9.30p.m., at Iwo area.

Wilson said that the accused had an unlawful carnal knowledge of a 13 year old girl without her consent.

He said the offence contravened Sections 31 (1) and (2) of the Criminal Code of Osun, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge when read to him.

The counsel to the accused, Mrs Nnenna Ugwu, prayed the court to grant her client bail in most liberal terms.

The magistrate said a formal application for bail should be filed by the defense counsel in the next date of hearing.

The magistrate adjourned the case to March 5 for hearing. (NAN)
